Mission
Missie
The Land Service is an environment-based youth program. It strives to equip the youth in the management and preservation of the environment in its totality. The use of educational environment-based activities and techniques are used to reach this goal.
Landsdiens is’n omgewingsgerigte jeugbeweging. Dit streef daarna om die jeug vaardig te maak in die hantering en bewaring van die omgewing in sy totaliteit. Om dié doel te bereik, word van opvoedkundige omgewingsgerigte aktiwiteite en tegnieke gebruik gemaak.
To be a genuine member of the Land Service (to care, be involved in and to DO with regard to all environmental issues) so that it will be available to and will become a way of life to each and every South African. In this way it will mean that Land Service members will better the environment in which they live and thus be proudly South African as they make a difference.
Die Landsdiens se droom is om ware Landsdiener te wees so te ontsluit dat dit toeganklik sal wees, en ook ‘n lewenswyse sal word van elke inwoner van Suid-Afrika. Elkeen moet omgee, betrokke wees en DOEN, veral betreffende omgewingskwessies. Sodoende werk Landsdiens liefde, omgewingsopheffing en gepaardgaande landstrots asook verskilmakende burgerskap in die hand.

Lidmaatskap
Die Landsdiens is toeganklik vir alle persone wat hulself met die doelstellings van die Beweging kan vereenselwig. Hoewel meeste van die klubs binne die fases van die formele opvoedingstelsel (laerskole, hoërskole en tersiëre instellings) bedryf word, word gesinsklubs en belangegroepe (Voëlkyk-, stap-, uitreik-, lees-, handvaardigheidsklubs, en dies meer) met graagte geakkommodeer. Individue kan ook by die Landsdiensbeweging affilieer. Lede en klubs word amptelik geregistreer.
Membership
The Land Service is accessible to all people who are able to endorse all the pillars (or loves) and aims of the movement. Although most of the clubs are centred and driven around the formal education system (primary, secondary and tertiary institutions) family clubs and special interest groups (bird watching-, hiking-, outreach-, reading-, arts and craft clubs as well as other special interest groups) are accommodated. Individuals can also be affiliated with the Land Service Movement. Members and clubs are officially registered.

Die grense van Landsdiensaktiwiteite en -inisiatiewe strek so ver as die Landsdiensleier en bestuur se interpretasie en verpraktisering van die doelstellings. Die grense van Landsdiens is onbeperk. Dus, hoe meer inisiatief, hoe meer Landsdiens – hoe interessanter die inisiatief, hoe interessanter die Landsdiens. Hoe sinvoller die inisiatief, hoe sinvoller is die Landsdiens.

Conservation:
- Visit nature reserves accompanied by specialised instructors and guests

Social interaction, as well as stimulating camps, on both club and international level.
The borders of Land Service activities and initiatives can reach as far as the Land Service leader and managements‟ interpretation and practicality of the aims are allowed. The borders of Land Service are limitless. Thus, the more initiative – the more Land Service which would then result in more interesting things that will be able to take place within the Land Service Movement. Also, the more meaningful the initiatives are, the more credibility the Land Service Movement will have.
